Jaime FlorCruz
At home in Beijing

Jamie FlorCruz of CNN is the dean of the foreign press corps in Beijing, with a history in China that goes back four decades. For some of the highlights of his career, see here and here. For an interesting article of his on Bo Xilai, recently much in the news, see here. FlorCruz notes that "Bo's dismissal is the most sensational political scandal to hit the Chinese Communist Party in recent years." His analysis of Bo's rise and fall, and why it matters, is enriched by his own observations of the former Chongqing leader and contender for a top post in the country: "I knew Bo when we both studied at Peking University's history department in the late 1970s. I majored in Chinese history, he in world history." The rest of the story is here.
